PBX Parachute™
PBX Parachute™ and 1 800 Numbers
PBX Parachute is especially easy to use if your primary incoming company number is already a toll-free number, such as a 1 800 number. This is because 1 800 numbers are always set up with DTO — Direct Termination Overflow. DTO allows your incoming calls to be automatically redirected to another number in the case of a primary PBX failure. This is possible to do in some cases with local numbers (check with your provider), but is already a part of 1 800 numbers. So if you use a 1 800 number, failover is automatic and instantaneous. If you use a local number that lacks DTO, you'll need to call the phone company and tell them to forward the number if there's a failure.
customers see no change
As long as the call routing, options, and messages are the same in both systems, a failed system utilizing PBX Parachute™ as backup doesn't look any different to the customer. The failover is completely transparent.
reliability without worry
With PBX Parachute™ you'll be utilizing a hosted PBX in a remote location. This gives you extreme reliability even in the case of major disaster. In addition, since there's no extra PBX hardware for you to deal with, you won't have to deal with upgrades, maintenance, or setup hassles. You simply choose a virtual local number or 1 800 number to use as the backup and off you go.
